Are NFC review signs worth it?

We sell these, so treat this with the scepticism it deserves — but the honest answer is that they are worth it for some businesses and pointless for others.
Worth it when you meet customers face to face
Cafés, salons, garages, clinics, gyms, hotels, trades that finish a job in front of a customer. The sign works because there is a moment where a satisfied person is standing in front of you with a phone.
One extra review a week from a £20 stand is a rate of return no advertising channel matches, because the reviews keep working after you stop paying.
Not worth it if nobody visits
Pure e-commerce, wholesalers, anyone whose customers never stand at a counter. You need a different channel — a card in the parcel gets some of the way, but the moment is weaker.
Also skip it if your Business Profile is unverified or duplicated. Fix that first, or the reviews land somewhere customers never look.
What the money actually buys
A one-off purchase against a subscription tool: no monthly fee, nothing to cancel, nothing that stops working if you forget to pay. The trade-off is that you get no dashboard and no automated messages — which most single-site businesses never used anyway.
Questions, answered
- How many reviews will I get?
- Nobody can promise a number, and anyone who does is guessing. It depends on footfall and whether staff mention it — that second factor matters more than the sign.
- What if it does not work for us?
- Then you have spent the price of two coffees per location, not a year of subscription.
