Google review signs for restaurants and cafés

Restaurants have the best conditions for review collection anywhere in local business: guests are seated, unhurried, and already holding their phone. What matters is which surface the sign sits on.
Table or counter: pick by how people pay
If guests pay at the table, the sign belongs with the bill — in the folder or beside the card machine. If they pay at a counter on the way out, one stand by the till does the work of twenty table talkers.
Quick-service and coffee shops almost always do better with the counter. Full-service restaurants do better per table.
The moment that converts
Ask when the plates are cleared and the guest has said something nice, not when the bill lands. "Glad you enjoyed it — if you have five seconds, tap your phone on the card" gets a far better response than a sign alone.
What to do about the food photos
Reviews with photos rank higher in Google's own carousel and get read more. Guests who have already photographed their dinner will attach it if the review form opens while the photo is still the last one in their camera roll — another argument for asking at the table, not the next day by email.
Questions, answered
- Do table stands get stolen?
- Occasionally. Weighted stands go missing far less often than light cards, and a replacement is a few pounds rather than a subscription.
- Can one sign serve several locations?
- No — each chip holds one business's review link. Order one set per listing so the reviews land on the right profile.
